GOBENCH or GOBENCH IQ (proper spelling GOBENCH ) is a Competitive Intelligence - Software for storage, comparison and analysis of large and complex data sets.

The software supports the generally applicable processes of strategic market and competition analyzes and benchmarking : selection, collection, recording and evaluation of information with the aim of deriving potentials for company and product strategies.

Functions and logic

The software is used to dissolve data islands of various departments and work groups and to map them in data pools. In the second step, the individual data pools or their data records (so-called instances) can be linked to one another, whereby this link is not a pure hyperlink, but offers further analysis options. No classic “folder structure” is used, but all data pools can exist independently and can be networked with one another if necessary. To find and evaluate specific data, the data can therefore be accessed from different directions.

The purpose of Gobench is to prepare data in such a way that basic comparisons and further analyzes can be made. Here, the data is usually structured in such a way that a selection (selection, e.g. using a filter and area search) must be made. The analysis options are created in a context-related manner. The main function here is the tabular comparison, which is supplemented by diagrams for evaluations using bar, column and line diagrams, correlations of information and comparisons of measurement series.

Analysis options

  • Costs (e.g. product, process, technology)
  • Best in Class (identification of the best products / solutions / unique selling points)
  • Parts lists
  • Aggregations
  • Pricing
  • Statistical evaluations
  • Innovation evaluation

Use cases: Cross-company benchmarking

Data can be provided both internally and across companies for the comparison of different data types with defined reference values ( benchmarking ). As a rule, such activities are embedded in the company's competitive intelligence .

Competitive analysis can include the following main applications:

  • Product benchmarking
  • Process benchmarking
  • Market analysis and business area planning
  • Technology portfolios and innovation reviews
  • Linking patents, monitoring patent infringements
  • Program monitoring
  • Investment and resource assessments
  • Structuring of associated reports, reports, documents

Industrial application

Gobench is used in the automotive supplier industry (including Hella , Johnson Controls , Continental AG , Kirchhoff Automotive , ThyssenKrupp Presta Steering ), in the aviation industry ( Recaro Aircraft Seating , MTU Aero Engines ), in the furniture industry ( Hettich , Häcker Küchen ) and by home appliance manufacturers (including Miele , BSH Hausgeräte , Convotherm) are used. There are also users in agricultural machinery ( Claas ), tool manufacturers ( Hilti , Metabo ) and in sun protection technology ( Warema ).

Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences has been teaching the application and possible uses of Gobench IQ in the engineering department since 2012.
