The Gobenowsee is located in the Mecklenburg Lake District southeast of Mirow and southwest of Neustrelitz in the south of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania near the border with Brandenburg . It is around 3.5 kilometers long. The width is up to 1.2 kilometers in the west and around 250 meters in the east. The lake has a larger west basin with an elongated bay to the east.
There is a tributary from the Rätzsee to the west via the Drosedower Bek , which flows south and flows into the lake in the north-west. To the south flows from the Gobenowsee towards Labussee the Dollbek from. There is a connection to the Klenzsee to the east .
The banks are almost completely wooded and mostly covered with reeds. There is a campsite on the north bank. In the northeastern borders Wustrower district Seewalde to the lake. Neu Canow is not far from the southern bank.
