Godehard Kipp

Godehard Kipp (born October 12, 1939 in Memmingen ) is a German ancient historian .

Life

After studying history , art history and German studies , during which he worked for four years as a research assistant at the Institute for Ancient History in Innsbruck and Bonn , in 1973 at the University of Innsbruck with Franz Hampl and Ingomar Weiler with the work of studies on early Greek cult practice PhD with special consideration of methodological aspects . After that, he initially worked half a day and from 1977 full-time as a university assistant at the Institute for Ancient History. He completed his habilitation in 1991 under the thesis The Origin of Plant Cultivation and Cattle Breeding According to the Concepts of Antiquity. Contributions to the evolutionary thinking of the ancients, especially the Greeks. The history of science prolegomena to a new scientific theory of the emergence of productive modes of subsistence . He was then assistant professor and from 1997 associate professor. On December 1, 2004, he retired.

His research interests are the religious and intellectual history of antiquity, women's and gender history, social and cultural anthropology and the social history of early Christianity.
