History and description

The house was built in 1929 according to plans by the architect Hermann Schieker . Stylistically, the building belongs to brick expressionism . The house was on the railway building society for railway Dr. Riemenschneider erected.

The residential building forms a three-story cube made of dark red brick . The corners of the house are evenly folded - the plan was characterized octagonal . The architect borrowed all design details from geometry .

The notable, expressionist details include the entrance, the round staircase windows , the symmetrically mounted water drainage pipes and the “Saturn” -like lightning rod on the roof. The facade consists of a combination of dark red clinker brick with light concrete block . The cornice , the door and window frames and the parapet fields of the corner windows are made of concrete.

Monument protection

The unusual house is at an important urban development point. The house survived the Second World War largely unscathed. It is a typical example of brick expressionism .
