The house Goethestraße 32 is a listed building in the Middle Franconian city of Erlangen .

description

It is a two-storey, eaves-standing building that has a dwarf building with an elevator bay window and two gable dormers . The property also has an inner courtyard and a back building. The baroque facade with two drilled walls corresponds to that of a typical Erlangen town house from the late 17th century.

history

Today's Goethestrasse 32, 1771

The house was built in 1697 on what was then Grande Rue (from 1812 Spitalstraße , from 1899 Goethestraße ) in Erlanger Neustadt, which was built from 1686. The first owner of the property was Stephan Michael Hollenberger. Later, the Huguenot Jean Etiene Puy took over the property, where he opened a bakery . In 1708 he was also granted the license for this house without a sign . From 1749 at the latest, there was no longer an inn.

A painting from 1771 in the Erlangen City Museum shows the building during the famine at the time with people waiting in front of the bakery by Jean Pierre Puy. Because of its detailed representation, the work created by Johann Simon Piehlmann (1753–1813) is one of the most important architectural images of the 18th century in Erlangen.

The property remained in the possession of the Puy family until the 19th century. A bakery was located here continuously until 1973. In 1989 and 1990 a thorough renovation and modernization took place.
