Gold Peak is an Asian electronics company . He is best known for the brand of the same name , under which accumulators and batteries are sold.

The "Gold Peak" group of companies was founded in 1964 in Hong Kong . The company's growth is due to the economic opening of the People's Republic of China . After the opening of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone , Gold Peak relocated production there. Its shares have been traded on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange since 1984 . Gold Peak Holding owns GP Industries Limited, which is traded on the Singapore Exchange . GP Industries Limited develops, produces and sells electronic products and is the mother of GP Batteries International Limited, the manufacturer of the batteries.

As of 2002 the group of companies employed over 15,000 people and had sales of 5.5 billion Hong Kong dollars (approx. 0.5 billion euros). The group has offices in over 10 countries.

GP Industries develops, produces and sells electronic products and components. The electronics business area includes products from the home electronics sector , precision parts and components for the electronic industry, as well as loudspeakers from the traditional British company KEF & Celestion . Another line of business supplies wire harnesses to the automotive industry . The batteries division is legally independent as GP Batteries International Limited .

GP Batteries is one of the largest battery manufacturers. The product range includes standardized primary cells and accumulators as well as individual solutions. The production sites are Hong Kong, Singapore , Malaysia , Taiwan and the People's Republic of China . In 1991 the company was converted into a stock corporation , which is listed on the Singapore Exchange.

For a long time, GP Batteries was responsible for over half of the sales of the “Gold Peak” group. In 2004, GP Batteries contributed nearly 40 percent of operating profit.

In 2003 it became known that high levels of cadmium had been found in the blood of factory workers . This was followed by years of struggle between the workforce and management over better occupational safety , medical surveillance, and compensation.

In 2009, GP Batteries took over the electric scooter manufacturer Vectrix .
