Golden Amiga

The Golden Amiga was a record award for entertainment musicians in the GDR . It was only given once, in 1988.

history

The Golden Amiga should be awarded every two years for local entertainment musicians, primarily according to commercial criteria. It was named after the only GDR record label for light music, Amiga . The jury consisted of Hans-Jürgen Schäfer from VEB Deutsche Schallplatten and nine other critics from AWA , the press, theater and the committee for entertainment art . All albums released by Amiga between October 1985 and October 1987 were judged; Ten albums in the seven categories Schlager / Pop, Rock / Electronics, light music vocal, light music instrumental, chanson / songwriter, jazz and children's program were awarded. The prizes were awarded in March 1988 at the first ever “National Pop Festival” in Karl-Marx-Stadt . With the fall of the Wall , the basis for the award ceased to exist, so that it was no longer awarded in 1990.
