The gold back-Wida or gold back Weber ( Euplectes aureus ) is one within the family of weaver birds (Ploceidae) to the genus of fire Weber ( Euplectes ).

features

The short-tailed gold-backed Wida is only 12 cm tall and weighs 25 g. The male has a black head, a gold-orange top, gray-brown tail top with black tail tips.

distribution and habitat

Gold back Widas are pampas grass , in acacia - savannahs and floodplains in Angola , Sao Tome and Principe to find.

nutrition

Gold-backed Wida feed on seeds and insects, they usually occur in small groups.

Reproduction

The breeding season is between December and April. The birds lay polygynously , the nests are usually created in groups. The male defends the territory and clutch.

Hazardous situation

The gold back Wida is not considered to be endangered ( least concern ).
