The iris chrysographes ( Iris chrysographes ) is a plant of the genus Iris ( Iris ) within the family of the Iridaceae (Iridaceae). It forms hybrids with Iris forrestii and Iris sibirica .

features

The gold striped iris is a perennial plant that forms a rhizome nest and reaches heights of 35 to 50 (rarely from 25) centimeters. The sheets are 10 to 15 millimeters wide. The flowers are fragrant and 6 to 7 centimeters in diameter. The standards are angled upwards. The hanging leaves are colored velvety dark purple. Your plate is drawn golden yellow and hangs vertically.

The flowering time is in June.

Occurrence

The gold striped iris is found in southwest China in Yunnan, Sichuan and southeast Tibet. It grows on moist mountain meadows on limestone at altitudes of 1200 to 4400 meters.

use

The golden iris is rarely used as an ornamental plant for natural gardens and waterfronts. It has been in culture since 1908 at the latest. The 'Rubella' variety has dark colored flowers.
