Gąsawa ( German Gonsawa , 1939-1945 : Gerlingen ) is a village in the powiat Żniński of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland . It is the seat of the rural community of the same name with about 5250 inhabitants.
history
The first documentary mention of today's Gąsawa comes from the year 1136. In 1388 the place received from Władysław II. Jagiełło town charter which the place should keep until 1934.
In the former Prussian province of Posen , the then city of Gonsawa was in the administrative district of Bromberg , district of Znin, until 1919 .
In 1919 the place became part of the re-established Poland and remained part of it until the occupation in the Second World War by the German Wehrmacht on September 7, 1939. On January 22, 1945 the occupation ended.
