The Gonzales Point is the northern foothills of Penguin Iceland off the southern coast of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is opposite the Mersey Spit .
Polish scientists named it in 1999 after the Chilean geologist Óscar González-Ferrán, who together with the Japanese Yoshio Katsui created a geological map of Penguin Island.
