The women's 400-meter hurdles at the 1982 European Athletics Championships was held on September 9 and 10, 1982 in the Olympic Stadium in Athens .

The Swedish Ann-Louise Skoglund became European champion . She won ahead of Petra Pfaff from the GDR. Bronze went to Chantal Réga from France .

European champion Ann-Louise Skoglund improved the EM record in the final on September 10th by 31 hundredths of a second to 54.58 s. SwedenSweden 

Preliminary round

The preliminary round was held in two runs. With sixteen runners, the number of participants was so small that no intermediate round was necessary. From the preliminary runs it went straight to the final, for which the first four athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - qualified.
