Het Gooi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Het Gooi (officially also Gooiland ) is a region in the province of North Holland , between Amsterdam , Amersfoort and Utrecht . The region, which is characterized by heather, forests, meadows and small lakes, includes many authentic villages and various important nature reserves south of the IJsselmeer .

The word Gooi is an old variant of the Dutch word gouw ( German  Gau ). The largest Gooic communities include Hilversum (as the main town), Huizen , Gooise Meren , Laren and Blaricum . The cultural area has been settled for more than 3000 years. The highest point in Het Gooi is Table Mountain at 36.40 m between Blaricum and Huizen.

In general Dutch usage, Het Gooi is also associated with the prosperity of its residents or with the media world (radio and television stations), which is particularly well represented in the Hilversum area.

In the series Feine Freundinnen developed by Linda de Mol (original title: Gooische Vrouwen ), of which ZDF only showed the first season in the summer of 2007, some of the supposedly typical Gooic properties and things are presented: prosperity, the Gooic mattresses, representative houses and expensive cars.
