Gordon C. Zahn

Gordon C. Zahn (born August 7, 1918 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin , † December 9, 2007 in Wauwatosa , Wisconsin) was an American sociologist .

Life

Gordon C. Zahn received his PhD from Catholic University in 1952 and was Professor of Sociology at Loyola University Chicago from 1953 to 1967 . From 1967 to 1980 he was at the University of Massachusetts Boston . In 1968 he became president of the American Catholic Sociological Society . He was one of the founders of Pax Christi in the United States.

In the German-speaking world, Gordon C. Zahn became known through his biography of the Austrian conscientious objector Franz Jägerstätter . Axel Corti made the film Der Fall Jägerstätter based on the book .

Long suffering from Alzheimer's, Zahn died in December 2007.
