Gordon Jennings
Gordon Jennings (born June 25, 1896 in Salt Lake City , Utah , USA , as Henry Gordon Jennings , † January 11, 1953 in Hollywood , California , USA) was an American trick technician . After various occupations in the film industry, he was involved in around 190 film productions on special effects between 1932 and 1953 and was honored seven times with the Oscar and eight more times nominated for it.
Life
Gordon Jennings started out as an engineer before moving to Hollywood as a camera assistant in 1919 . Later he devoted himself to the trick technique. The idea of introducing movable titles in the opening and closing credits of a film came from him. Jennings mainly worked for Paramount and from 1933 headed their special effects department. His older brother Devereaux Jennings also switched to Paramount, so the brothers worked together in several films and were also nominated for awards together.
Private
His son John D. Jennings became a dentist and produced the film The Face of Jesus .
