Gordon Joshua Wasserman, Baron Wasserman (* 26. July 1938 in Montreal ) is a British - Canadian business leaders , economists , professors and politicians of the Conservative Party , which as an independent consultant for the management of the public service worked and since 2011 a member of the House of Lords is.

Life

Degree and Government Official

After attending school, Wasserman completed a degree in economics at McGill University in Montreal and graduated in 1959 with a Bachelor of Arts. He then completed with the support of a Rhodes scholarship , a post-graduate studies at the University of Oxford and ended it with a Master of Arts (MA). He then took over a professor of economics at the University of Oxford.

In 1967 he joined the British Government, initially serving as Home Office economics advisor , before becoming Head of the Civil Service Unit for Deprived Urban Areas in 1973 . There he dealt with the problems in British inner cities until 1977.

In 1981 he became Assistant to a Parliamentary Undersecretary of State and Director of Social Policy in the Office of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher .

After that in 1983 he was Assistant to the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Home Office for questions of science and technology to the police before he was on leave in May 1995 for a year to the legal defense fund of the US American Association for the Advancement of colored people National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) to work.

In addition, he served as a law enforcement, correctional technology and policy evaluation advisor to the US Department of Justice's National Institute of Justice between 1996 and 2003 .

Since November 2000, he has been CEO of electronics company GE Ion Track, Inc , of which he has been a board member since May 2000. In June 2002, he became chairman of an international team of experts charged with reviewing the work of the National Institute of Justice's Office of Science & Technology (OS&T) to ensure that the OS&T was able to cope with the demands of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks .

Most recently, Wasserman, who returned to the SEARCH Group Board of Directors in July 2004, served as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Center for Criminal Justice Science and Technology at the Georgia Institute of Technology .
