In the year 1131 was here by Otto von Reveningen ( Röblingen am See ) and Krottorf on behalf of the Archbishop Norbert of Xanten the pin Gratia Dei (= grace of God) of the Premonstratensian founded. One of the first provosts was Evermod from Cambrai . The monastery had great economic importance for centuries and was rich and important until the Reformation - Calbe became Protestant in 1542 - and until the great fire of 1548. It was lifted for the first time in 1563 and again after the Thirty Years War , and soon afterwards it was demolished for the construction of the Calbe lock , only the hospital chapel has survived to this day.

On June 1, 1929, the divine grace district was dissolved by adding the domain of Gottesgnaden with most of the arable land and the built-up district of Tippelskirchen to the rural community of Schwarz. The separators Vorwerk Trabitz and Vorwerk Colno have been combined with the rural communities of Trabitz and Zuchau .
