Zuchau is a district of the town of Barby in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Zuchau is located in a flat area south of the confluence of the Saale and the Elbe . Dessau is 30 km east, Calbe (Saale) approx. 12 km northwest of Zuchau. The meadows east of Zuchau belong to the Middle Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve .
The Colno district belonged to the former municipality of Zuchau.
history
Zuchau already appeared 978 for the first time in a deed Otto I to.
The Romanesque quarry stone church " St. Laurentius " with a tympanum in the single-step south portal dates from the 12th century. The village character of the place could largely be preserved even after the creation of a modern infrastructure. The village fountain, designed as a so-called horse pond , is worth seeing .
On June 1, 1929, the Colno farm came from the dissolved manor district Gottesgnaden to the then rural community of Zuchau.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Zuchau, Breitenhagen , Glinde , Groß Rosenburg , Lödderitz , Pömmelte , Sachsendorf , Tornitz and Wespen as well as the city of Barby (Elbe) merged to form the new city of Barby. At the same time, the Elbe-Saale administrative community , to which Zuchau belonged, was dissolved.
Transport links
From Zuchau country roads lead to Bernburg (Saale) , Köthen (Anhalt) and to Calbe (Saale) and Aken (Elbe) . The nearby train station in the neighboring municipality of Sachsendorf is on the main Magdeburg - Halle (Saale) line .
