Lödderitz is a district of the town of Barby in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt .
geography
Lödderitz in the middle of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve is located in a flat area, surrounded by wet meadows, near the confluence of the Saale and the Elbe . The city of Dessau-Roßlau is 18 km east, Calbe (Saale) approx. 14 km west of Lödderitz.
The district of Rajoch belonged to the former municipality of Lödderitz.
history
The place Lödderitz is of Slavic origin, but does not appear for the first time in a document until 1330 , the district of Rajoch already 200 years earlier.
Lödderitz was often exposed to Elbe floods for centuries. From the middle of the 19th century, the arable land that was reclaimed from the swamps began to be dammed. To the north-east of Lödderitz, the Steckby-Lödderitz Forest nature reserve - already designated as such by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve in 1979 - developed into the Middle Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve, which was expanded to include significant floodplain areas. In the Elbe meadows, nature is now left to its own devices - the constant alternation of high and low water has created a landscape that is unique in Central Europe.
The annual homeland and hunter festival has a long tradition. The old custom of ring riding is also maintained here.
On May 14, 1901 was Gutsbezirk Rajoch in a rural municipality converted. On July 1, 1950, the community Rajoch was dissolved and incorporated into Lödderitz.
On January 1, 2010, the previously independent communities of Lödderitz, Breitenhagen , Glinde , Groß Rosenburg , Pömmelte , Sachsendorf , Tornitz , Wespen and Zuchau and the city of Barby (Elbe) merged to form the new city of Barby. At the same time, the Elbe-Saale administrative community , to which Lödderitz belonged, was dissolved.
Forester's cemetery
In 1820 a cemetery was set up outside the town on the Schmiedeburg, a former Slavic castle wall . Since many forest workers and foresters are buried there, the cemetery was named Försterfriedhof . The last burial took place in 1940 when the painter Ernst Zehle was buried there.
The forestry cemetery is maintained by the Dessau forest care office . After the Elbe dike has been relocated , the forester cemetery is located in the floodplain of the Elbe . Therefore the connection to the forester cemetery is at risk.
In August 2018, plans became known to designate a new nature reserve in the area between the Saale and Elbe. The plans originally intended that the forester's cemetery should be located in the core zone and therefore no longer allowed to be entered. As part of the expulsion procedure, the draft ordinance was adapted on the basis of objections from the population. For example, in the ordinance on the “ Middle Elbe between Mulde and Saale ” nature reserve that came into force on December 20, 2018 , the forester's cemetery was removed from the core zone of the nature reserve. It is still accessible to visitors via approved paths.
