Klein Rosenburg is a district of the town of Barby in the Salzlandkreis in Saxony-Anhalt , located on the Saale . Between January 1, 1957 and January 1, 2010, the place belonged to the community of Groß Rosenburg .

history

The castle ruins of the Rosenburg , which were first mentioned in 965, are located in Klein Rosenburg . The castle ruins, which are in Klein Rosenburg, were uncovered and secured in 1995. Today it is a destination for cycling tourists, but also a landmark of the village. New ponds were created and the park around the castle was replanted and partially restored. The castle is the last before the Saale flows into the Elbe and was therefore of particular strategic importance. This is also indicated by its size, it has a diameter of 115 m without wall and ditch.

As a fiefdom, the place with the Amt Rosenburg belonged to the Counts of Querfurt from 1136 to 1270 and around 1300 as an afterfief to the Counts of Barby from the house of the Counts of Arnstein and thus became part of the County of Barby . The Reformation was introduced in 1540 under Count Wolfgang I von Barby .

After the Earls of Barby died out in 1659, County Barby was divided . The place fell as part of the Rosenburg district as a former fiefdom of the Archbishopric of Magdeburg to the Archdiocese of Magdeburg belonging to Brandenburg ( Holzkreis ). Since 1815 Klein Rosenburg belonged to the district of Calbe a./S. in the Prussian province of Saxony . After 1945 the place belonged to the state of Saxony-Anhalt. After the dissolution of the states in the GDR in 1952, it belonged to the Magdeburg district and since 1990 back to the state of Saxony-Anhalt .

When it was incorporated on January 1, 1957, Klein Rosenburg lost its political independence.

When the Saale floods in June 2013 , the dike near Klein Rosenburg broke on the morning of June 9th.
