Georg Gottfried Clausius (born April 13, 1755 in Frankfurt am Main ; † September 16, 1822 there ) was a German businessman and politician .

Life

Clausius was the son of the Frankfurt citizen and gold worker Johann Bernhard Clausius and his wife Maria Margaretha née Koch from Heidelberg . He was of Protestant denomination and married Anna Elisabetha Lieder (born August 31, 1751, † March 3, 1823), the daughter of councilor Johann Peter Lieder , in Frankfurt am Main on March 22, 1784 .

Clausius lived as a merchant and trader in Frankfurt am Main. In 1784 he took over the leather business from his father-in-law Johann Peter Rieder. In addition, he was also politically active. From 1801 to 1810 he was a member of the 28th Kolleg (the bourgeois representation of the 14 quarters ) of the imperial city or the primate city ​​of Frankfurt. From 1810 to 1813 he was a member of the Department Council of the Department of Frankfurt and was also a member of the Departmental Electoral College of the Department of Frankfurt. From October 11, 1810 to October 28, 1813 he was a member of the Estates Assembly of the Grand Duchy of Frankfurt . He had been elected for the Frankfurt department and the electoral group of rich merchants and manufacturers.
