Gottfried Egger
Gottfried Egger (born June 6, 1830 in Aarwangen ; † October 13, 1913 in Worb ) was a Swiss brewery entrepreneur .
After an apprenticeship as a beer brewer with his brother August in Aarwangen and a trip through Europe, which lasted from 1851 to 1852 and on which he a. a. Visited London , Paris , Munich and Prague , he worked in his brother's brewery. In 1855 he went to the USA and founded a brewery in Aurora near Chicago . For family reasons he had to return to Switzerland in 1862 and was the first to introduce the petrol lamp . In 1863 he again founded a brewery in Worb; it is still owned by the family today and has been run by Max Egger in the fifth generation since 1984.
