Gottfried Fischer (diplomat)

Gottfried Fischer (born March 30, 1927 in Stolzenberg , Pomerania ; † 1999 ) was a German diplomat .

Life

Fischer graduated in art history and German literature and in 1956 at the University of Bonn to Dr. phil. PhD. After completing his preparatory service for the senior foreign service, worked at various missions abroad and at the headquarters of the Foreign Office in Bonn .

From 1973 to 1977, Fischer was German Ambassador to the Republic of the Congo , based in Brazzaville. In 1981 he became ambassador to Ghana and remained in this post until 1987. He then became ambassador to Madagascar in 1987 and was also accredited as ambassador to the Comoros and Mauritius in this capacity . In 1991 he retired and was replaced as ambassador to Madagascar by Günter Held .
