Gottfried Grandel

Gottfried Grandel (born October 17, 1877 in Augsburg , † 1952 in Freiberg ) was a German entrepreneur in the field of biorefineries .

The son of Georg Grandel and the father of Felix Grandel (born June 1, 1905 in Mannheim; † August 21, 1977 in Augsburg ) received his doctorate in philology in 1900 , was a pharmacist and took over the parental oil works Georg Grandel in Augsburg.

In 1919 Grandel founded the Federation for German Law in Augsburg and was an intermediary for ethnic associations ( Pan-German Association ). He was friends with Dietrich Eckart . In March 1920 he organized a plane with which Adolf Hitler and Eckart flew to Berlin to take part in the Kapp Putsch .

On August 17, 1920 he founded the Augsburg branch of the National Socialist German Workers' Association. V. NSDAP membership number 1713. On December 17, 1920, this registered association acquired the Völkischer Beobachter and the Franz-Eher-Verlag from the Thule Society for 120,000 Reichsmarks . Franz Ritter von Epp , as authorized signatory for a reptile fund of the Reichswehr , provided 60,000 Reichsmarks for this acquisition . Adolf Hitler accompanied Gottfried Grandel from Augsburg to a notary in Munich, where Grandel gave a guarantee for a loan of 56,500 Reichsmarks for the acquisition of the publisher. The guarantee was called up by the beneficiaries shortly afterwards and no longer paid back to Grandel.

In 1929 the Georg Grandel Augsburg oil works merged with the oil wholesaler Christian Lindemann Walsoe to form the German oil factory Dr. Grandel & Co , which dedicated itself to the production of factories , relocated the company's headquarters to Hamburg in 1930.
