Gottfried Grawert

Gottfried Grawert (* 1670 in Dresden ; † 1724 there ) was an electoral Saxon engineer-colonel and cartographer , major general and quartermaster general .

Life

Grawert was a conductor (Sousleutnant) in the Saxon engineering corps since 1690 and became a captain in 1700. In 1701 August the Strong temporarily entrusted him with the work on an improved map of the kingdom. Grawert presented this card to his client as early as 1704. By 1714 he was promoted to general quartermaster of the Saxon army and in 1716 also became chief of the engineering corps. In the same year he was appointed major general. At times he was also in command of the Königstein Fortress . On November 11, 1715, during the siege of Stralsund, his horse and that of General Field Marshal Wackerbarth were hit by cannon balls. He and his companion were unharmed.

Grawert was the owner of the Kleinoelsa farm and from 1701 also the Spechtritz mill near Rabenau.
