Gottfried Klaus (born November 25, 1899 in Biel ; † August 6, 1963 in Chur ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Klaus attended the teachers' seminar in Solothurn , which he completed in 1918 with the teacher's certificate. He then worked as a secretary in the Solothurn finance department before taking up a position as a teacher in Derendingen in 1920 . In 1922 he married Klara Vorbrodt, with whom he had three children: Gerhard (1924), Annette (1927) and Hanni (1930). In 1927 he switched to Olten as a teacher , where he taught until his election to the government council of the canton of Solothurn in 1949. In 1963 he died as a result of a traffic accident in Chur .

From 1949 to 1963, Klaus was an ex officio member of the Solothurn Library Commission as cantonal finance director. As finance director, but also as a patron and book lover, he supported the new building of the Solothurn Central Library on the area of ​​the Zetter-Palais.
