Gottfried Ritter von Rittershain

Gottfried (Bohumir [us] Ladislaus) Ritter von Rittershain (* 1820 in Lemberg , Galicia , † August 20, 1883 in Görlitz , Lower Silesia ) was a doctor and pediatrician in Prague .

Life

Gottfried Ritter studied at the University of Lviv and the Charles University in Prague . The title of his dissertation was De epilepsia . He worked at the Polyclinic in Prague and became interested in childhood diseases. In 1864 he was appointed Professor of Pediatrics in Prague.

Ritter von Rittershain was the founder of the Prague medical weekly . In 1880 he had to give up his job because of his epilepsy . He died on August 20, 1883 of complications from a stroke .

Ritter von Rittershain 's disease or Ritter von Rittershain's disease , i.e. the staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome , can be traced back.
