Gottfried V. (Eppstein)

Gottfried V. von Eppstein (* around 1318 ; † between August 4, 1336 and October 9, 1341) was a nobleman of the younger line of the Eppstein family . The Eppsteiners, who succeeded in establishing one of the most important aristocratic rule in Hesse in the late Middle Ages and who were wealthy in Spessart, Taunus and Wetterau as early as 1200, were noble lords and in the 13th century had four archbishops and electors from Mainz .

Life

Gottfried V. von Eppstein was the son of Gottfried IV. Von Eppstein and his wife Loretta von Daun zu Oberstein .

He married Liutgard von Breuberg in 1328 , with whom he had the following children:

Through his wife Liutgard von Breuberg (also known as Luckarde von Breuberg), Gottfried V. benefited from the Breuberg legacy: As heir, she brought a quarter of the Breuberg rule in the Odenwald into her first marriage with Konrad V. von Weinsberg . After Konrad's death, she brought half of her inheritance in the form of an eighth of the Breuberg rule into her second marriage to Gottfried V. The other half stayed with her son from her first marriage, Konrad VI. from Weinsberg .
