Gotthard Voigt

Kurt Gotthard Voigt (born August 25, 1928 in Zschorlau ; † June 10, 1991 ) was a German dentist and politician ( DSU ). He was a member of the last people's chamber in the GDR and an observer in the European Parliament .

Life

Voigt attended elementary school in Zschorlau and secondary school in Schneeberg until 1944 , before he was drafted into military service and took part in World War II . In 1946 he graduated from high school in Zwickau and then studied dentistry at the University of Leipzig . From 1955 he worked as a dentist in his father's practice and since 1972 in his own practice in Zschorlau.

He was married, of Protestant faith and received the state award for medical advice .

politics

Voigt joined the German Social Union in 1990 , for which he ran in the Volkskammer election on March 18, 1990 at number 7 in the Karl-Marx-Stadt district . The party got its best result there with 14.8% and he was the last on the list to enter the People's Chamber, in which he sat until German reunification on October 2nd. In February 1991 he was sent to the European Parliament by the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the German Bundestag as an observer for the territory of the former GDR. After his death on June 10, 1991, Lothar Klein replaced him .
