In 1914 he was given the title of professor. In 1922 Fritz got the position of the public library director of Greater Berlin and in 1924 he became director of the Berlin city library . At the same time he was head of the Berlin library school, and for years he edited the magazine “Bücherei und Bildungspflege”. In 1934 he was dismissed as director of the Berlin City Library. He also lost his position as head of the Berlin library school, which was closed in early 1933 by the Nazi regime. The proceedings were discontinued in 1934; Fritz couldn't get over this blow and died that same year.
