The Berlin-Mitte City Library is a public library system sponsored by the Mitte district of Berlin, Office for Further Education and Culture. The library has a media inventory of 457,281, which were borrowed 2,360,667 million times by 1,029,850 visitors in 2018. In addition, the library organized over 4400 events, guided tours and exhibitions during the same period. This makes the Mitte City Library the most heavily used district library system in Berlin. Since the library index (BIX) was collected , which evaluates the performance of libraries in Germany, the results of the work have been ranked at the top every year.

The Berlin-Mitte City Library participates in the Association of Public Libraries in Berlin (VÖBB) and is connected to the nationwide interlibrary loan system.

Cooperations

The Berlin-Mitte city library cooperates with the schools in the district, the Fanny Hensel music school , the City-VHS and other cultural and educational institutions. There is close cooperation with numerous German-language publishers.
