The Tempelhof-Schöneberg City Library was founded on December 1, 2001 after the two Berlin districts Tempelhof and Schöneberg merged. Thus the two city libraries were also merged. The library has a media inventory of 281,722, which were borrowed around 1.5 million times by 586,678 visitors in 2018. In addition, the library organized over 2,800 events, guided tours and exhibitions during the same period.

history

In 1999 the Tempelhof libraries began to join the Association of Public Libraries in Berlin (VÖBB). It started on June 15, 1999 with the main library in Tempelhof in the Eva-Maria-Buch-Haus. This was followed by the Lichtenrade district library (June 21, 1999), the Marienfelde district library - Marienfelder Allee building (June 28, 1999) and on June 28, 1999 the Waldsassener Straße building. In 2000 the Schöneberg libraries were also connected to the VÖBB, so that at the time of the merger in 2001 they were already cataloged in a common library system.
