Heinrich Singer (born February 6, 1854 in Lichtenstein / Sa. , † August 8, 1927 in Weimar ) was mayor of Jena .

Singer was in 1874 when Landsmannschaft Plavia in Leipzig active, where he studied law, was sitting times for 14 days because of a scale in the detention room . His term of office spanned the period from 1889 to 1912. He played a considerable part in the urban development of Jena, which took account of developments in technical progress in urban planning. So he introduced electricity, the telephone and the tram there. The electrification of the city began in 1901. A committee under his leadership built the Bismarck Tower (Jena) in Jena . He was buried in the north cemetery in Jena.

Honors

The Singerwäldchen in Jena was named after him.
