Gottlieb Kenngott

Georg Gottlieb Kenngott (* 18th November 1862 in Kirchheim unter Teck , † 10. November 1945 in Esslingen ) was a German politician of the SPD .

Life and work

After attending elementary school in Kirchheim unter Teck, Kenngott, who was a Protestant , completed an apprenticeship as a white tanner from 1876 to 1878 . After wandering and two years of military service, he settled in Esslingen in 1893. There he headed the regional leather workers' association from 1894 to 1906, and its local administrative office until 1910. From 1895 to 1900 he was chairman of the United Trade Unions in Esslingen. In 1900 he became magazine administrator of the Konsum- und Sparvereins , before he headed the newly created workers' secretariat of the United Unions from 1908 to 1919 . As early as 1904 he was head of the local health insurance fund, later the district health insurance fund , again from 1919 until his retirement in 1927 an official of the local health insurance fund and then its first chairman until 1933. In September 1927 he was elected Deputy City Councilor Esslingen. Kenngott was a member of the boards of directors of the Württemberg State Insurance Institute and the Württemberg Health Insurance Association.

From 1894 Kenngott was chairman of the social democratic agitation committee for the 5th Reichstag constituency in Württemberg ( Esslingen , Nürtingen , Kirchheim , Urach ) and from 1905 to 1919 chairman of the district organization of the SPD. From 1902 to 1905 at the latest, most recently in 1910, he led the Esslingen SPD local association. From 1907 to 1919 Kenngott was a member of the local council in Esslingen, again after his retirement and as a parliamentary group leader of the SPD until the SPD parliamentary group was banned on June 23, 1933.

From 1917 he was a member of the District Council of the Upper Office Esslingen . In 1908, Kenngott was elected to the Württemberg state parliament in a replacement election for the retired Gustav Seeger . He was a member of the second chamber of the state parliament until 1918.

In 1919 and 1920 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . A second Reichstag candidacy for the 1920 to 1924 electoral period was unsuccessful.

Kenngott was the son of the white tanner Ernst Christian Kenngott (1813–1866) and the raisin Sibylle Kenngott born. Also (1824–1909), he had twelve siblings. In 1889 he married Luise Karoline Rurck (?) (1865–1948), with her he had a child.
