Gottlieb Meyer

Gottlieb Meyer (born October 5, 1855 in Hallau , † November 27, 1940 in Muralto , reformed , resident in Hallau, since 1896 in Oerlikon ) was a Swiss printer and publisher .

Life

Gottlieb Meyer, born on October 5, 1855 in Hallau, was the son of Georg Meyer and Magdalena, born Surbeck. After attending secondary school , he completed a typesetter apprenticeship in Schaffhausen . From 1884 Meyer headed his brother's print shop in Schaffhausen. Meyer also took over the printing of the "Schweizer Familien-Wochenblatt" , which in 1909 came into his possession.

In 1886 Gottlieb Meyer started his own book printing and magazine publishing company in Zurich . In 1920 he had a printing plant set up in Rapperswil . In 1924 Gottlieb Meyer founded the "Meyer Schweizer Frauen- und Modeblatt" . As a result, business activities were expanded to French-speaking Switzerland. He was also president of the Swiss printing and publishing company between 1921 and 1940. He also launched the New Swiss Library in 1934 .

He was married to Barbara nee Schöttli. Gottlieb Meyer died on November 27, 1940 at the age of 85 in Muralto.
