The house at Gräfestraße 16 (district Wehlheiden, corridor 4, parcel 26/1) is a listed cultural monument in the Wehlheiden district of Kassel in accordance with Section 2 (1) Hessian Monument Protection Act . The monument protection consists of urban planning reasons.

history

The four-storey house, like the neighboring house No. 14, was built around 1911 by the architect Wilhelm Klein. In 2008 the division into condominiums with a total of eight residential units. In 2010, a loft extension created another floor with another apartment. An extensive renovation of the roof and facade followed in 2013/2014.

Construction features

The building is designed as a baroque clinker brick building . It forms a closed development with the neighboring houses and has a cornice extending through to house 14 above the ground floor . On the upper floors, two oriels converge like risalit under a mansard hipped roof , crowned in the middle by a dwelling . The loggia on the 3rd floor is closed with basket arches . The unplastered wall strips on the upper floors are designed as colossal pilasters , the facade surfaces in between are partially plastered. A decorative motif that recurs in various designs is crowned with kinked contours that end in volutes .

On the garden side there is a three-storey extension with an extended roof towards House 18.
