The residential and commercial building group Graf-Adolf-Straße 83-87 in Düsseldorf was built in the years 1896 and 1898-1899 by the architect Heinrich Salzmann for the iron foundry and machine factory de Fries & Co. AG in the style of historicism based on the "German Renaissance" ( Nordic Renaissance ) established.

The four-storey street front of the building group was designed in a uniform manner, the sculptural decoration was particularly remarkable: “Characteristically arranged figurative representations indicate the industrial purpose of the building.” The facade was divided into seven axes on the upper floors and characterized by coupled windows and bay windows. Other decorative elements were pilasters and obelisks .
The basement and ground floor were used to store products from the machine tool industry. The business premises, offices with safes, meeting rooms for the board of directors, the packing and dispatch rooms were located in the four-story rear building. "Elegant private apartments" were to be found on the upper floors of the front building.

Most of the facade on Graf-Adolf-Straße is still preserved today. The sculptural decoration on the gables has come off. In 1984 a discotheque was opened at Graf-Adolf-Straße 87 , initially trading under the name “Zorba the Buddha” and later “Bhaggy-Disco”. It was one of a number of discos, cafes and vegetarian restaurants that were operated by the neo-sannyasins from the 1980s . In 2000 the “Bhaggy Disco” was closed. The Cologne-based real estate investment company Rüger Holding expanded its portfolio by purchasing the building for the opening of a hotel company in 2004.
