The Granby River is a 115 km long left tributary of the Kettle River in the southern Canadian province of British Columbia . The river was named after the Granby Consolidated Mining & Smelting Company .
River course
The Granby River rises on the southern slope of Galloping Mountain ( 2196 m ) in the Monashee Mountains at an altitude of 2000 m . The river flows south through the mountains along its entire route. The top 40 kilometers are in Granby Provincial Park . Major tributaries are Burrell Creek and Lynch Creek , both from the left. The Granby River finally reaches the small town of Grand Forks , where it flows into the Kettle River.
Hydrology
The Granby River drains an area of 2060 km². The mean discharge is 30.7 m³ / s. The highest monthly outflows occur in May and June.
