Granny O'grimm's Sleeping Beauty is an Irish animated short film by Nicky Phelan from the year 2008 .

action

A little girl is lying in bed pretending to be asleep when her grandmother appears, wakes the child and asks if she wants to hear another bedtime story . Although the child vehemently denies, the grandmother begins to read the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty . It starts with the birth of the princess, who was beautiful even as a baby. After a brief, violent argument about the fact that beauty cannot get you very far, the grandmother goes on to talk about the baptism of the princess.

First, she presents the numerous fairies as pretty, but stupid creatures who think more about their bust size and are only capable of small talk . The appearance of the old 13th fairy, who astonishingly looks like the grandmother, leads to a tirade about the discrimination of the old in society, the 13th fairy was only not invited to the baptism because of her age. In the grandmother's story, the 13th green-looking fairy with her walker breaks up society, scornfully laughs at the baby and in the end casts the curse on society as a whole that everyone who falls asleep will die.

The grandmother is at the end of her story and leaves the girl scared to death.
