Darragh O'Connell

Darragh O'Connell (* 1972 / 1973 in Ireland ) is an Irish director and film producer .

Life

O'Connell studied animation at Ballyfermot College from 1990 to 1994. In 1994 he founded the animation film studio Brown Bag Films with Cathal Gaffney . He is mainly active as a director: he has directed numerous animated commercials, but also short films and cartoon series such as Olivia and Die Oktonauten . As a producer, he received an Oscar nomination in the Best Animated Short Film category for the short animated films Give Up Yer Aul Sins by Cathal Gaffney and Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty by Nicky Phelan .

O'Connell has been a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences since 2010 . He lives in County Kildare with his wife and two children .
