Granola (potato)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Granola is a medium early, mainly waxy potato variety .

This table potato variety forms rough-skinned, round-oval tubers. When cooking, the specialty is that the variety initially remains firm, but becomes floury after a longer cooking time. It hardly darkens here.

Due to its pronounced dormancy, it is predestined for long-term storage. Lightly reticulated tubers with a yellow flesh color are further characteristics. It is resistant to the nematode pathotypes Ro1 and Ro4. Granola is also insensitive to Rhizoctonia , late blight , tuber blight , scab and mechanical damage. Granola was brought onto the market in 1975 by Pflanzenzucht Saka GbR and was named Potato of the Year in 2014.
