The pink pine cone is a waxy type of potato , known in England as the Pink Fir Apple . In 2013 it was Potato of the Year .

It is a waxy, late-ripening variety of potato, which is ideal for potato salad. It is extremely storable. Their skin is pink while their flesh is light yellow. It is elongated in shape. The yield is low by today's standards.

history

The pink pine cone was approved as a variety in England in 1850. Its country of origin cannot be clarified, as the variety appeared in several countries at the same time. England is suspected.
