Grant Lewis (born January 20, 1985 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ) is an American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the EHC Linz in the Austrian ice hockey league .
Career
Grant Lewis began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with the Pittsburgh Forge, for which he was active in the junior league North American Hockey League in the 2002/03 season . He then attended Dartmouth College for four years , for whose ice hockey team he took part in the game operations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association . There he was able to convince and was elected to the All-Rookie Team and the first All-Star Team in 2004 and to the second All-Star Team of ECAC Hockey in 2006. During his university days, the defender was selected in the second round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as a total of 40th player by the Atlanta Thrashers . For their farm team Chicago Wolves he played in the American Hockey League from 2007 to 2010 and won the Calder Cup with the team in the 2007/08 season . For the Atlanta Thrashers himself, he came to his only appearance in the National Hockey League during the 2008/09 season . The 2009/10 season he ended with the Hershey Bears , with whom he also won the Calder Cup.
In September 2010 Lewis was transferred to the Nashville Predators , but played exclusively for their AHL farm team Milwaukee Admirals throughout the 2010/11 season . For the 2011/12 season , the American was committed to HC Lev Poprad from the Continental Hockey League . After a year in the KHL, Lewis switched to the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League in August 2012 . Just one season later, EHC Red Bull Munich announced the commitment of the defender, who initially signed a one-year contract.
In November 2014, Lewis suffered a shoulder injury and missed most of the 2014-15 season as a result.
In November 2015 he was signed by EHC Linz from the Austrian Ice Hockey League . A few weeks after moving to Linz, he suffered another shoulder injury after a check-up, had to undergo an operation and was out for the rest of the season. He has been without a club since then.
