Greenfield is a village in Ohio , United States . Most of it is in Highland County , but it also extends into Ross County . At the time of the United States Census 2000 , Greenfield was still listed as a city , but only had 4906 inhabitants and thus officially became a village, as its population fell below 5000.

Greenfield is located on Paint Creek and the geographical coordinates are denominated 39 ° 21 ' N , 83 ° 23' W (39.351623, -83.386461). According to the United States Census Bureau , the place has an area of 5.0 km², which consists entirely of land.
Demographics
At the time of the United States Census 2000, Greenfield was inhabited by 4906 people. The population density was 981.5 people per km ². There were 2099 housing units at an average of 419.9 per km ². The population of Greenfields was 95.78% White , 2.20% Black or African American , 0.08% Native American , 0.08% Asian , 0.12% Pacific Islander , 0.33% said other races belong to and 1.41% named two or more races. 0.69% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latinos of any race.
The residents of Greenfields were distributed among 1955 households out of which 31.4% were living in children under the age of 18. 44.3% of households were married, 15.3% had a female head of household without a husband, and 35.9% were not families. 30.9% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 15.4% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.04.
