Greg Lewis (athlete)
Greg Lewis (actually Gregory David Lewis; born December 9, 1946 in Victoria ) is a former Australian sprinter .
At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, he failed over 100 m in the run and reached the semifinals over 200 m .
In 1969 he won silver over 100 m and 200 m at the Pacific Conference Games .
At the British Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh in 1970 , he was eliminated over 100 m and 200 m in the semifinals. In the 4 x 100 meter relay , he did not reach the goal with the Australian team in the lead because of a lost baton.
In 1974 he won the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch with the Australian 4 x 100 meter relay. Over 100 m and 200 m he was fifth each.
Twice he was Australian champion over 100 m (1969, 1976) and three times over 200 m (1972, 1973, 1976).
He is married to the high jumper Carolyn Wright . Their daughter Tamsyn Lewis is successful as a middle-distance runner.
