Greg Norton

Greg Norton (born March 13, 1959 in Rock Island , Illinois ) is an American bass player and cook who is best known for his work in the band Hüsker Dü .

Career

Greg Norton grew up in Mendota , Minnesota and worked with Grant Hart at the Memory Lane record store in St. Paul during his youth . Together with Hart and Bob Mold , who often shopped in this shop, he founded the band Hüsker Dü in 1978 . With his unusual mustache , he set himself apart from his fellow musicians. Another passion he pursued during those years was cooking.

After Hüsker Dü broke up in 1987, he and two companions from Hüsker Dü times, Colin Mansfield ( guitar ) and Jo Jones ( drums ), founded the band Gray Area , which became well known in the Twin Cities area ( Minneapolis) + St. Paul) brought. During its existence the band has been to a recording studio twice for recordings; however, these were never published. Gray Area disbanded in 1991.

After that, Norton left the music business to focus on cooking. Together with his wife Sarah, whom he married in 2001, he opened the restaurant "The Norton's" in Red Wing , Minnesota, in 2003 , which has won several awards for its wine selection.
