Gregg Alexander (* 4. May 1970 as Gregory Aiuto in Grosse Pointe , Michigan , artist name also Alex Ander ) is an American musician, songwriter and producer who as head of the New Radicals became known.

Career

Aiuto grew up in a devout Jehovah's Witness family and received various kinds of music lessons. As a teenager he went to Los Angeles , signed a recording deal and released his debut album Michigan Rain at the age of 19 . After this and the follow-up album Intoxifornication remained unsuccessful, he limited himself to writing for other interpreters and traveled abroad before founding the New Radicals in 1997. Although the debut album was very successful, he broke up the band shortly afterwards because he could not cope with the tour life and suffered from exhaustion and began to concentrate on his work as a music producer and writer. He worked with Sophie Ellis-Bextor , Ronan Keating , Geri Halliwell and Enrique Iglesias , among others . He has also successfully produced several times with Rick Nowels , who is also the co-author of the greatest hit of the New Radicals You Get What You Give .

In 2003 he received (together with Nowels) a Grammy Award for authoring The Game of Love for Carlos Santana .
