Gregor DuBuclet

Gregor DuBuclet (* in Santa Monica ) is an American musician, violinist and conductor.

Life

Gregor DuBuclet grew up in California and studied composition and performance practice at the University of New Hampshire and conducting at the Pierre Monteux Conducting School. Nikolaus Harnoncourt's seminars , which DuBuclet attended during his studies at the Salzburg Mozarteum in 1978, were particularly influential .

From 1980–1982 DuBuclet taught at St Paul's School ( New Hampshire ) and was Music Director of the Lakes Region Symphony Orchestra. After studying viola at the Musikhochschule in Frankfurt / Main with Walter Müller, he also specialized in the viola d'amore with Dorothea Jappe at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and with Marianne Rônez .

DuBuclet has performed as a Viola d'Amore soloist at the San Sebastian Festival (Spain), the Göttingen International Handel Festival , the Drottningholm Festival and the Edinburgh Festival . As a guest lecturer in early music, DuBuclet taught at the University of Music in Barcelona and the music academies in Damascus and Bangkok. DuBuclet was engaged as an orchestral musician in the Staatsphilharmonie Frankfurt / Oder and conducted the orchestra from 1991–1993. In 1994 he established himself as a freelance musician. DuBuclet was a founding member of Concerto Brandenburg, with which he recorded a world premiere CD of works by the Catalan baroque composer Domènech Terradellas in 1997 .

He also accepts numerous international invitations as a conductor. Among other things, he directed the Perm State Opera (Russia), Venus Orchestra (Abu Dhabi), Teplice State Orchestra (Czech Republic). He also conducted “ Una cosa rara ” by the Spanish composer Vicente Martín y Soler in Russia and directed performances of Claudio Monteverdi's L'Orfeo in Russia and Thailand. DuBuclet has been 1st Kapellmeister of the New Symphony Orchestra Berlin since 2005 and has been a member of the Göttingen Festival Orchestra since 2006 and the Göttingen Baroque Orchestra . He directed several musical performances, for example the music for Lord of the Rings in 2010 on behalf of “Star Entertainment Berlin” and in 2011 at the “Thurn und Taxis Castle Festival” in Regensburg The Phantom of the Opera .
