Gregorio Carafa
Gregorio Carafa della Roccella (born March 17, 1615 in Castelvetere , † July 21, 1690 in Valletta ) was the 62nd Grand Master of the Order of Malta .
He came from the Italian noble family Carafa , the princes of Rocella. He was the son of Girolamo Carafa, Marchese of Castelvetere and the mother Diana Vittori Borghese. This was a niece of Paul V. He was nephew of Bishop Carlo Carafa . His brothers were the cardinals Fortunato Ilario Carafa della Spina and Carlo Carafa della Spina .
He entered the Order of Malta and belonged to its Italian tongue . After the death of Grand Master Nicolas Cotoner , he was elected as his successor on May 2, 1680. He died in Valletta on July 21, 1690 and was buried in St. Catherine's Chapel within St. John's Co-Cathedral .
He was also Grand Master of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher .
