Gregorius Stannarius

Gregorius Stannarius (born January 6, 1610 in Marburg as Gregor Kangießer ; † January 13, 1670 ibid) was a German Reformed clergyman , theologian and philosopher .

Life

Stannarius was the son of a preacher . He completed the pedagogy in Marburg and then attended the University of Marburg . As in the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War , the abbey of Fulda fell to Hesse, he became in 1631 the Reformed preacher and rector of the seminary in Fulda. In 1634 he received a position as professor of philosophy at the Collegium Mauritianum in Kassel and on February 2, 1635 a professorship in physics at the University of Kassel . At the university he held the office of rector in 1647 and 1648.

When the universities of Kassel and Marburg were merged again at the Marburg location, Stannarius received the professorship of logic, metaphysics and physics at the University of Marburg on June 16, 1653. On June 20, 1653 took place there his doctorate to Dr. phil. He was also dean of the Philosophical Faculty in 1653 and 1654 . On June 30, 1660 he was given the third full professorship in theology. Shortly thereafter, on November 8, 1660, he was with the dissertation De Deo uno & trio to Dr. theol. PhD. In 1666 he held the office of dean at the theological faculty and in 1657 and 1669 the office of rector of the university.
